2023: Year In Review

Northpointe Seal

By: Erin King & Tina Larson, Managers of Customer Success & Professional Services, equivant Pretrial + Supervision

As we reflect on the past year, equivant Pretrial + Supervision is proud to have witnessed supervision and pretrial reform momentum alongside an increased investment in programming throughout the country. These evolutions have significantly changed supervision and pretrial processes to promote fairness, support open communication, and embrace innovation. Our team is looking forward to seeing these reforms and trends continue to transform the corrections landscape.

equivant Supervision + Pretrial has continued to evolve, too, through the products, services and software solutions we offer.  The product features deployed in the Northpointe Suite are a reflection of customer listening sessions, advisory boards and industry trends.  Here are some of the highlights:

  • Stand-Alone Pretrial Module – Created a new module for agencies that need the elements of the Pretrial, but not the full Northpointe Suite. This enhancement allows pretrial teams to customize and streamline their workflows..
  • Pretrial Recommendation Level – Updated the software to enable the use of the PSA and VPRAI-R configured release levels, connecting key data pertaining to the likelihood of FTA and current defendant status.
  • Linking – Added the ability to link dockets to programs in a variety of ways, allowing for information to be easily tied to a variety of organized digital files.
  • Pretrial Investigation Queue – Created a designated pretrial queue to assign and set due dates for pretrial investigations. This way, pretrial teams can balance workloads more efficiently and ascertain next steps easily to keep systems and progress moving.
  • Updated Pretrial Report – Updated fields and enhanced the pretrial report generation. We understand that real-time data is invaluable – and we’ve made sure our pretrial customers have everything they need at a moment’s notice.

Moving into 2024, we are already working on even more ways to create opportunities for staff and system stakeholders to fulfill the needs of all agencies on the supervision and pretrial justice journey. Some examples include:

  • The continued optimization of case plans – Customers will find flexibility in targeting key areas of need to accurately gauge client progress (or lack thereof).  Our commitment to tying pertinent data to case planning remains a priority.
  • Tracking educational opportunities  – As justice-involved individuals take advantage of educational opportunities, we offer real-time attendance and educational progression tracking, providing data outcomes and insights into local populations.
  • Software that makes increased face-to-face time possible – Our team is always asking the question “how can we reduce duplicate data entry and help reduce workload stress for end users?” End user efficiency remains our top priority, so your staff have time to focus on what matters most.
  • Tailoring services to needs – Substance use and mental health are often co-occurring and critical areas of focus for interventions and programming. In response, we’ve included an optional trauma screen to the COMPAS-R and continue to expand our library of alternative screening and offense-specific instruments to ensure agencies have access to the tools they need.
